James Weir

James Weir is a Financial Adviser at The Hopkins Group, working in partnership with our business associates at Taxlink in Williamstown and Point Cook.

Never one to sit still, James finished university with degrees in Agricultural Science and Business (majoring in financial planning) and a dream to become a grain trader. After two weeks of job searching, he was offered a role via the AMP Horizons program. Figuring that stock broking was similar enough to grain trading, he accepted the position and at 22 began his career as a financial adviser.

James has since learned that there is more to financial advice than share trading. Post university, he has continued his education to build his knowledge and expertise in specific areas, such as SMSFs. He takes pride in ensuring his clients are in a position to achieve their goals and make the most of their financial situation, keeping the bigger picture in mind at all times.

Growing up on a family farm has fostered James’s passion for small business. This passion has made him the perfect fit for The Hopkins Group’s partnership with Taxlink Williamstown/Point Cook, as we introduce our financial advisory services to the clients of this small business.

James is qualified with a Bachelor in Agricultural Science and a Bachelor of Business (Financial Planning).
