Shane Light

Shane Light is the Head of Advice and also a Senior Financial Adviser with The Hopkins Group.

Beginning his career in 2002 as an accountant / mortgage broker, based in Wollongong NSW, it wasn’t long before Shane expanded into financial planning and commenced his career as a financial adviser. In 2007 Shane moved away from being a financial adviser into a more niche role in the financial planning industry where he specialised in compliance and risk management and was employed across a number of large Australian Financial Service Licensees. During this time Shane relocated to Melbourne in 2010.

After nine years and copious amounts of interstate travel auditing financial advisers around the country, Shane now finds himself Head of Advice and well placed with his background to manage the financial planning division within The Hopkins Group.

A big believer in education, mentoring and career development, Shane enjoys the challenges that come with management, thriving in continuing to educate clients on ways they can achieve financial freedom.

Outside of work, Shane gives up a lot of his time to volunteer as a fire fighter for the CFA and other charity organisations.

Shane is qualified with an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning, Cert IV in Accounting, Diploma in Mortgage Broking and a Graduate Certificate in Management. In 2020 and 2021, he was recognised as one of the top 50 most influential advisers in Australia by making the FS Power50 list, to which he was consequently nominated for 2022.
